Design consultant,
Dutch Designer and
internationally renowned teacher in Design Thinking
The past couple of years I’ve made my wildest dreams come true. Not just by working hard for many hours, but by consciously designing and applying methods to break free of conventions, to actively think out-of-the-box.
Innovation is effortless, if you create the right mindset and implement the right methods.
About me
“Curious, full of energy and passionate about inspiring others”
I’m indeed curious, always up for a challenge with the personality of an artist. This means I see opportunities and make new connections for innovative ideas everywhere BUT it also means that I’m easily distracted by all the ideas I have. Sounds familiar maybe?
For this reason I’ve dedicated the past 10 years not only to design and creating strong brands, but also on developing clear methods to apply Design Thinking, concept development and building a business in a very structured way. This helped me to grow and make my wildest dreams come true.

The Design life
Together with Interaction- and Multimedia designer Joost de Nooy, I’ve founded The Visual Theatre in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). Since the beginning we’ve had the pleasure to work for the most amazing clients and organisations. From branding and identity design for a huge hospital to working for the Dutch Design week and the Beijing Design week. Each of them wonderful challenges that allowed me to grow as a designer and creative entrepreneur.
Always intrigued by systems to enable innovation and growth, I started to design my own systems. I wanted them to be very accessible to allowed ‘ordinary’ projects and people to produce extraordinary results.
We’ve applied these systems and methods in almost every project – whether it was for the research phase, concept phase, prototyping phase or design phase.

Too much life-changing knowledge to keep for myself
In 2014 I started giving workshops on Design and ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking in the Netherlands for both Bachelor and Master Institutes. In 2015 our design- and teaching business expanded to China. Together with a brilliant team (Yi Shu and Joost) we had the pleasure to travel from Shanghai to Changsha, from Beijing to Guangzhou and many more Chinese cities to visit outstanding universities and give workshops on design, Dutch design basics and Design Thinking.
This also resulted in a beautiful collaboration with Hunan Normal University in Changsha where Joost and I are still guest teachers, twice a year for about 2 months each time.

Dutch Design foundation with elements of various cultures
Travelling and working in China gave me the luxury of being able to absorb Chinese habits and Design perspectives. But also while giving workshops at the International Master Institute in The Netherlands, I gained many new insights. As a sponge I observed and absorbed as much as possible, always trying to put new perspectives and methods into practice.
This makes the Academy for Innovation & Creativity a one-of-a-kind platform for learning all the skills you need to train your creative muscles and to become the most innovative person you know.
